- Matias Sambarino
Architect Matías Sambarino started his professional studies in 1988 at the School of Architecture of Montevideo.
While attending University he worked on the design of equipment for residential buildings and business premises, in Montevideo and Punta del Este, specializing in materials such as steel, wood and glass.
He has a natural trend toward research and during those years he achieved technical construction solutions that result in technical patents. Between 1992 and 1996 he worked as Technical Representative under contracts with the Uruguayan State. His work was particularly focused on the refurbishment and rehabilitation of buildings considered national historical monuments, such as the University of the Republic and the School of Engineering.
In 1996 he founded his professional studio, which has built and projected works in Uruguay and abroad. From the beginning, the Studio has worked on housing programs for private clients and on institutional projects, some of which consisted of international competitions.
He has also developed new building techniques that have been applied in some of his constructions.
His works have international acknowledgement and these toghether with his projects and designs had been published and exhibited in several countries around the world.
At present, together with the specific activity of projection and work direction, the Studio is working on architectural research and development.
